|

|
This nice teddy bear with a blue tongue, is one of the oldest races of dogs. The first
remaining traces of the chow-chow, go back approximately 3000 years behind in Mongolia. It would seem that the chow goes down from the races of blue bears of Tibet.
In other respects, according to his general behavior, he has rather
something in common with the felines. It is a dog of a great originality. |
| The chow is an active, compact and powerful dog. He is strong, and
looks like a lion, with his thick mane. He proudly holds his tail high,
distinctly above his back. Another characteristic is that he 's lying flat
on his stomach, i.e. with his hind legs stretched backwards. |

The chow is good-tempered and has an independent nature.
He is affectionate, but sometimes likes to be alone for a few moments, lying
like the sphinx. He is a discreet animal, never doing anything silly, and
besides, reserved with the strangers. He is however a good watchdog, who does not hesitate to
warn about any unusual event emerging within his limits. On the family level,
he is brimful of affection for his close circle, and gets on very well with the young children,
with whom he knows be docile, never showing any outburst of temper. |
| On the physical level, there are long-haired or
short-haired coats. The hair is very thick and silky, and requires daily care.
About the coats, they are unicoloured, either black, red, blue, fawn-coloured or cream-colored.
About the measurements, the male is between 48 and 56 cm high, for a weight of approximately 27 kg, and the female between 48 and 51 cm,
for a weight of approximately 25 kg. |
