WHO IS THE DALMATIAN ?

The dalmatien is open and friendly. He is affectionate and very nice, but also, extremely sensitive. He's a kind soul and does not generate monotony. He's sometimes a true clown.
He's able to defend his family in the event of nuisance or danger. He is however never aggressive nor violent, but his size makes of him a very good watchdog. In the house, he very briefly barks to announce somebody, and waits then calmly.
The dalmatian becomes apprehensive and wild, only if he has not enough contacts with the human, or if his masters treat him hard.

The dalmatien is an excellent dog of company for a family. He did not lose his sense of smell and can also reveal unquestionable gifts for hunting. He is classified besides in group 6 by the FCI (International Cynologic Federation) with the hounds and searching for blood dogs.

The dalmatian can be exuberant, but can also be incredibily calm in the house, where he can sleep several hours in his basket. He is brimful of affection, so that  sometimes he is not able to control his impulses of joy. It is necessary to know to control his overflowing affection.
The dalmatien has the capacity to be able to smile, he raises the upper lip and thus shows his teeth. And it is a real smile and not an aggressive expression. He can use his best beautiful smile besides in order to make succumb his family circle, especially when he has just made a silly thing and wants to be forgiven.

The dalmatian needs much complicity with his Master and great daily walks. The largest garden would quickly become a prison, if he is left alone there. He adores to run and if he has a sporty Master, he will be in seventh heaven. Indeed, formerly his ancestors accompanied stagecoaches on very long distances.

He is a receptive and intelligent dog very easy to educate, because he quickly understands what master asks him. On the other hand firmness is needed, without never shouting on him, nor being unjust. He adores to play and is very dynamic, it is the occasion to intersect the  playtimes, with varied trainings. He is very intelligent but obstinate, a canine education during 2 or 3 months, at a rate of one course per week will teach him the basic orders.

It is not easy to advise in the choice of a sex rather than the other. The two sexes have many common points, they like the cuddles and the caresses. The female is a little smaller than the male, so women and children are more able to control her. The male is a little more robust and obstinate that the female, he needs an approach a little firmer. The female seems cooler, and during the walks she is not distracted so easily.

CONCLUSION: It is a very affectionate dog who likes cuddles and caresses. Very exuberant, he adores to play, he must always have many toys at his disposal. His greater pleasure is to play with his Master (with a ball for example).

With the children there will be many laughter times, a child is never bored with a dalmatian. As affectionate, vivacious and turbulent one as the other, they will have together great moments of plays, while sharing a great complicity.

These photos have been taken at the Great Dalmatian Fest in Saint Doulchart, in july 2003 and 2004.

The press also was of the part as the two photographs show it.
